|Title||Plat map of the Chicago-Colorado Colony, green and yellow|
|Scope & Content||
One plat map of the Chicago-Colorado Colony, green background. Titled at top "Longmont. Chicago Colorado Colony" and "Organized at Chicago No. 22, 1870. Map shows original square mile of Longmont, with lots platted in all but the southwest quarter of town. Four parks are shown, Thompson, Lake, Collyer, and a park in block 66 with a lake labeled "Fawcett Lake." IN the lower left corner is noted "The Land Owner-Eng." In the lower right corner is "Baker-SC."
Several changes indicate that this may be the earliest plat of Longmont, as it has a number of things that do not appear on later maps: "Fawcett Lake", and Irrigation canals running to this lake and through the lake in Lake Park; the absence of platting in the southwest corner; and Blocks 94 through 105 are shown full-sized instead of truncated.
|Notes||Original catalog card description reads: Plat of Longmont 11/22/1870 16" x 14". The discrepancy in dimensions might indicate the map once had borders that have been removed.|
