Scope & Content St. Vrain Hotel Register, showing the names of people staying at the St. Vrain Hotel from November 21, 1871, to June 30, 1873. Some names include hometown. Many early Longmont and St. Vrain names are mentioned, including W. J. Atwood, Walter Buckingham, A. Cushman, Isaac Flansberg, C. C. True, J. W. Turrell, Frank Hartman, and many others. April 16, 1873 records the arrival of the first train in Longmont, the Colorado Central Railroad. The proprietor of the St. Vrain Hotel is listed as Capt. W. B. Sigley. One preprinted page for the St. Vrain Hotel dated July 1, 1873, is clipped into the book. The beginning and ending pages are covered with scribbles and stamps for the Novelty Manufacturing Co. of Denver.
Admin/Biographical History The St. Vrain Hotel was located on Main Street in Longmont. It burned in 1879. According to the catalog card, all persons desiring meals were required to register. Isabella Bird stayed at the St. Vrain Hotel in September and October of 1873, and describes it in her September 25 letter.
Notes Isabella Bird stayed at this hotel in 1873, but it was after the period covered by this Guest Book.
